WHITE LODGE, THE - Twilight Vision  CD (Attack 9: ATT016: 708527111628)  $12.00

WHITE LODGE, THE

EXCLUSIVE.  The first 50 customers who order "Twilight Vision" will receive a free limited CDR of The White Lodge's "Endless Wilderness", 13 tracks of newly recorded material and older pieces, all of them previously unavailable. Attacknine Records is proud to present The White Lodge's debut album "Twilight Vision". The White Lodge is Steven and Emiliana, a husband and wife duo living and recording on a farm in eastern Appalachia. Together they have gathered and articulated a bucolic palate of sounds, weaving them into a shadowy psychedelic tapestry around the listener. Intricate blends of room noise and incidental sounds mix with the building tides of muffled drones, flutes, and bells surrounding their gentle guitars and organs. They make melodic, lonesome, and pretty music that is as gentle and frail as it is dark and curious. It is a turning of the ear, a 'listening' at the winding path through the woods at night, and the mysterious communication it brings with it. Track List: 1. Come Twilight, 2. Winter Tracks, 3. Hawk Watch, 4. Drowning In Sight of Shore, 5. Firelight, 6. Sunset Deep, 7. Forest Balance, 8. Lost Season, 9. Spirit Animal, 10. Waking Vision

AM-BOY - Horrible Oracle Blessedness  CD (Attack 9: ATT017: 708527111727)  $12.00

AM-BOY

EXCLUSIVE.  The first 50 customers who order "Horrible Oracle Blessedness" will receive a free limited CDR of Am-boy's newly recorded album "Music For". Each one comes in it's own one-of-a-kind sleeve designed and hand drawn by Sarah Maravelias (myspace.com/Fawcett_art) Attacknine Records is proud to present Am-boy's "Horrible Oracle Blessedness", 16 tracks of addictive Technicolor synth-tunes, and the latest dose from a body of work that has earned him the title of "Walt Disney on Acid". Am-boy is coastal NJ's Forrest Wolf, and ‘Horrible Oracle Blessedness’ is his third full-length release. Perhaps more so than ever before, ‘Horrible Oracle Blessedness’ is filled with his trademark sugary hooks and pristine production that will leave you with a smile on your face and a head full of melodies you won’t stop humming. Forrest grew up on a steady dose of his fathers scratched and worn to perfection record collection that paved the way for his future musical endeavors. “Mid 90's I started messing around with tape recorders and modified cassette decks. I always wanted things to sound worn out and used, and over shot tape was perfect. Melody and nostalgic chord progressions have always been what I enjoy. Once computer audio systems became affordable, it was easy for me to write. I really don't follow music that closely. I just make tunes that make me smile and keep me going.” Praise for Am-boy’s music: “Perpetuating his trademark 'Walt Disney World on acid' brand of nostalgic electronics…the synths have sheen, the reverb is whale-like at times, and the rhythms are programmed simply and effortlessly to lock down the pace. Am-Boy maps out a gauzy route through his own daydream nation, inviting you to get lost …and ease away from reality.”– Etherea “Fellow Wobbly-mate Forrest Wolf has created his best album thus far. I cannot express in words how much this record means to me, as I've practically played it a million times. "Clayton's Hideout" is a perfect pop/electronic masterpiece, borrowing familiar elements from established composers and making them all his own. The album is perfectly assembled, and begs for repeated plays with its sugary hooks and pristine production. The beats and melodies are deceptively simple, exemplifying a complex series of emotions that perfectly unveil themselves with each listen. You will not be disappointed, as this is by far one of the best albums of 2005.” – Erik Kowalski/CASINO VERSUS JAPAN Track List: 1. A Place of No Eyes, 2. Rallies Fads and Riots, 3. Brackish Exploration, 4. Over The Bridge, 5. Seaward Classic, 6. Moving Up In The World, 7. Turning of Season, 8. Blue Pass, 9. Brickpath, 10. Let’s Dance, 11. Erola, 12. Epic Battalion, 13. Attacknine Records is proud to present Brian Grainger's debut solo release "Eight Thousander". The first solo release from Brian Grainger (Milieu, Free Festival, VCV) comes in the form of another set of eight warm, blissed-out pieces. Completely improvised on guitar and organ with no overdubs, Eight Thousander is a hazy, crackly record that evokes thoughts of a mountain hike towards the end of the Summer. Melodic guitars overlap with still-life organs in an aged collage wrapped with brittle paper – the sound that Brian's music has come to be known for. CASINO VERSUS JAPAN - Hitori + Kaiso: 1998 - 2001  CD (Attack 9: att006: 708527110621)  $13.00

CASINO VERSUS JAPAN

EXCLUSIVE.  Double CD. HITORI+KAISO (1998-2001), Casino Versus Japan's fourth full length release, brings together 29 previously unreleased tracks from Milwaukee's Erik Kowalski, on California's Attacknine Records. His signature style of electronic songs have garnered enjoyment from fans the world over, as well as by other music figures such as; Ulrich Schnauss, Kid 606, Marumari, and the folks at the luminary electronic labels Morr Music & City Centre Offices. Like spilling specs of light or a luminescent swarm of benevolent bees, Erik Kowalski's music is as characteristically about the infinitesimal components texturizing it, as it is about the totality of it's larger melodious whole. Casino Versus Japan is the bee keeper's game machine, and from it comes the sound image of his neon glitter scenes, where the headphones become a theme park for the wordless, whirling translation of a gentle heart trapped in circuitry. Recommended for fans of; Dark bedrooms and late night listenings, Cocteau Twins, being in the company of rocking chairs, your Loveless vinyl, the ambient visage of lakes, day dream selections, and trips on trains. Future Projects: Split 12"/CD release with artist, Freescha. Casino Versus Japan is currently finishing a new album for a 2004 release. "...Milwaukee's Erik Kowalski owns the sky, and the otherworldly buzzing sounds that could easily be alien transmissions" -Ghostly International "From needlepoint to loomwork, lumbering beats alongside ebbing/flowing keys make for an introspective body of work. Across his other projects, Erik has demonstrated the same keen awareness for downtime, the living room listening, and the lounge & the hi-fi" -Mod Magazine. "What does the name mean? I have no idea" -Erik Nakamura, Giant Robot. UPC: 708527110621.

FREESCHA

EXCLUSIVE.  Attacknine Records is proud to present Freescha’s long awaited follow up to “What’s Come Inside of You”. Somewhere deep inside the tape machine, when we think we're finally asleep, the amusement park becomes a rock 'n' roll fright mare, and the barbarian rules the bailiwick. Will you be able to yoke the scepter of your glam-box in order to save the opera from Sawlord? Or will the nether-realm be forever engulfed by the shadow-cast, leaving only a bloody slub in its wake? The answer will be found in the runes. And the wizard crystals. And your lube. "HEAD WARLOCK DOUBLE STARE. Twenty four tracks that take you deeper into the darkness of Freeschaland, dripping with fuzzy Phantom pop, bent pianos, and warping synths. There’s someone staring at you in the dark. For fans of; lasers, roller skates, cob webs, magic, armor, dance machines, wizard crystals, lube, Tones on Tail, slasher films, jet cycles, and Yor. Freescha (Pronounced freesha). is the creative pairing & friendship of the San Fernando Valley born Nick Huntington and Michael McGroarty. Their California-brand of organic electronic songs are observed and enjoyed by fans the world over, as well as by other music figures such as; Two Lone Swordsmen, Casino Versus Japan, Manual, Hermann & Klein, and Marumari. Freescha recently completed a cover of the song “Spiders” for Moby. They are scoring the music for the art-house horror film “Zero Dark Thirty”, for a 2007 Theatrical release. Freescha was asked to cowrite a song with the synth-pop band Stefy, whose debut album on Wind Up Records will be released in August 2006. And finally, Freescha was asked to collaborate with the very talented pop-songstress Sia for her next record. "A ghostly, timeless, parallell, otherworldlyness pervades every track taking it way beyond mere zeros and ones. WINTER FLOWERS - s/t  CD (Attack 9: ATTCD012: 708527111222)  $12.00

WINTER FLOWERS

EXCLUSIVE.  Attacknine Records is proud to presentfor the more folk-friendly audiences, such as the misty mountain sounds of Winter Flowers and their self-titled debut album. Welcome to the gentle world of Winter Flowers (Gavin Toler, Christof Certik, Astrid Quay, Sasha Smith, and Evan Conway), a soft musical oasis of guitars, flutes, mandolins, glockenspiels, harpsichords, and soaring three-part vocal harmonies. Here you will find a space of fragile delights for the seeker of higher musical realms, an oasis in which the familiar earthiness of the folknik and the other-worldliness of the psychedelic pilgrim combine with the lost harmonies of the Golden Age to create a gentle solace for the ringing, rock-weary ear. In the new garden of folk, The Winter Flowers inhabit a corner all their own, singing songs laced with romance and fantasy, informed by the mist, mountains, and sea – the natural beauty of their native Pacific West Coast home. TRACK LISTING: 1. Misty Morning Land, 2. End of the War, 3. Ivory Path, 4. Country Fair, 5. Hey Ho, 6. Sixteenth Street Sunset, 7. Winter Bird, 8. Why Don't You Shine, 9. Too Young To Marry, 10. Isle of Islay, 11. Sea Song, 12. Window of the Sun, 13. White Pilgrim, 14. Christ Bird Winter Flowers have been casting their unique spell since 2001, first in Seattle, then San Francisco, and now in Los Angeles. They have been equally at home playing for rock audiences, such as heavy-rock heroes Dead Meadow (who have described Winter Flowers as "the other side of the same coin"), and for the likes of Lavender Diamond and Joanna Newsom, with whom they have also shared billing. They currently play extensively in the L.A. area, and have toured the west coast with psychedelic prog-rockers, Silver Sunshine. Notable L.A. appearances include; Arthur Magazine's now-famed ArthurFest and ArthurBall, the Winter Garden Music Festival at Spaceland, a recent weekly residency at the Tangier, and KCRW's On-Air with Devendra Banhart. They also performed at SXSW for Arthur Magazine's showcase at The Church of the Friendly Ghost. Between shows up and down the west coast, they have been working on recording a second album and are diligently writing new songs for a third. They plan to tour more extensively as soon as their current recording projects are finished. "The Winter Flowers are not part of any scene. They have always existed within an alter-domain, one that is setting up camp on the outskirts of town, where all are invited to partake in their ancient atmosphere and haunted other-worldly melodies" – Devendra Banhart "Lovely! [Winter Flowers' Album] is authentic beauty in the midst of our time of ugly" – Michael Simmons (L.A. weekly / Arthur Magazine)

SURF THE SUNDRIED, THE - The Surf, The Sundried  CD (Attack 9: ATT008: 708527110829)  $12.00

SURF THE SUNDRIED, THE

EXCLUSIVE.  The Surf, The Sundried's self titled debut. Released on California's Attacknine Records. Multi instrumentalists Nick Huntington (Freescha,Canyon Country) and Emmett Kelly (The Cairo Gang, Charlemaignes) combine their talents and friendship to bring us 23 tracks of rich, lush live instrumentation ripe with melody. Though Freescha is known for their Californian brand of organic electronics, there is nary an electronic intrument to be found in these recordings. Much like the all handcrafted elements of The Surf, The Sundried's cover art, they have used their hands to draw sounds from wood. Written and recorded over a period of three weeks in their home studio, these songs capture the initial spark of their immediate inspiration. Sometimes folk, sometimes rock. Instrumental passages and songs by the ocean, under the sun. "We initially thought about releasing these songs on two discs or two different albums, but realized that all these songs belong together, so we decided to put them all in one dense debut album instead of seperating them. We also have sketches of material we didn't have time to get to, so we're anxious to get back in the studio and record the next record." Delicate finger picking, buzzing guitars, melodicas, recorders, mellotrons, and twinkling pianos to pluck out the lights. Strings detuned, guitars worn and aged well. Songs to guide you down the river.

JOHN WEBSTER JOHNS - John Webster Johns  CD (Attack 9: ATT010: 708527111024)  $12.00

JOHN WEBSTER JOHNS

EXCLUSIVE.  Released on California's Attacknine Records. John Webster Johns is proud to present his most recent work, a collection of bedroom recordings, pieced together during his time spent in Los Angeles, New York, Boston and Chicago over the last 2 years. This debut solo effort is comprised of 18 wonderfully short pieces, that seamlessly combine a vivid assortment of synthetic tones and textures, with the homespun intimacy of acoustic instruments and a beautiful voice, showing us a sincere, gentle and warm side of the artist that we might not detect so immediately when listening to the other projects he is involved in, (Charlemaignes, Poworld, and Flesh Unitard) without abandoning the delightfully mad and playful use of the wildly bizarre sounds and moods that those groups are known for. This is an album with personality, and sincerity, not concerned with adhering to the rock idioms of the day. Johns seems to be playing with the idea of genre, hinting at a vast realm of musical possibilities by shamelessly breeding things like noise and folk, or, microtonal music and rock and roll, or sometimes two or three songs at once, etc. Johns lyrics tend to be very short simple in structure, with a direct conversational tone, like talking to a friend. The end result is an album that will grow on its listeners in a personal fashion, and will make you want to listen closely. Here is an album that moseys along with a lo-fidelity souvenir in it's back pocket. An urban-unearthing for something organic from the ambition of a bedroom time zone. The sound of it's music carries with it equal measures of discordance and melody. In the end, the self titled debut by John Webster Johns gives one the feeling they've just discovered their very own little secret. John Webster Johns is currently rehearsing for a World tour. "Johns ensures that nothing outstays its welcome, a policy that also sees him delivering more ideas per pound that most singer songwriters manage in a whole career." " John Webster Johns is an aural mirror to an ADD generation." -BOOMKAT "John Webster Johns displays all the intimate qualities of a genuine and original solo artist." "An essential album of 2005 and a must for any future-folk fan." -ANGRY APE

FREESCHA - What's Come Inside Of You  CD (Attack 9: ATTCD003: 708527110324)  $12.25

FREESCHA

EXCLUSIVE.  Pronounced freesha. Southern California electronics. MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Whats Come Inside of You, Freescha's third full length album released on their own Attacknine label, brings 14 new songs from the creative pairing & friendship of the San Fernando Valley born Nick Huntington and Michael McGroarty. Their Californian brand of organic electronic songs are observed and enjoyed by fans the world over, as well as by other music figures such as; Two Lone Swordsmen, Moby, Casino vs. Japan, Opiate, Hermann & Klein, Bauri and Marumari. Freescha was chosen for URB magazine's "Next 100" artists to watch for in their year-end special issue. From the by-gone days, when the naivety of 1970s relinquished its day dreams over to its successor, the equally awkward, trendy1980s, Freescha opens the doors to a special place that escapes specific dates or promises that can not be kept, and only hopes to sweeten that ache held in secret under a pillow, like finding strange candies in a dark dream. Recommended for fans of Flash Gordon, Tones on Tail, Xanadu, The Gap Band, Big Foot, summer vacations, and as the Japanese say, "natsukashii" -a feeling for fond memories. Future projects: Car Park records compilation, "Do You Wanna Buy a Craprak?" (exclusive track) Split 12"/CD with artist, Casino vs. Japan (3 exclusive tracks) Miy Paluk records (UK label) will feature a Freescha track on their upcoming compilation. FREESCHA - Kids Fill The Floor   CD (Attack 9: attcd002 : 708527110225)  $12.00

FREESCHA

EXCLUSIVE.  Reissue. Pronounced freesha. Southern California electronics. Kids Fill the Floor, Freescha's first full length album released on their own Attacknine label, brings 13 songs from the creative pairing & friendship of the San Fernando Valley born Nick Huntington and Michael McGroarty. Their Californian brand of organic electronic songs are observed and enjoyed by fans the world over, as well as by other music figures such as; Two Lone Swordsmen, Moby, Casino Versus Japan, Hermann & Klein, Opiate, Manual, and Marumari. Freescha was chosen for URB magazine's "Next 100" artists to watch for in their year-end special issue. Freescha's debut album serves as both an artifact of the musicians' creative friendship as much as it embodys the very affinities that bring them together. California is a care-free, albeit melancholy vision for the songs they've cultivated for Kids Fill the Floor. From the obscured tones and nocturnal whisperings, come strange familiarities of past lives that leave you humming them long after the tunes have ceased. For Freescha, the coastlines and the evening fields are a song you hear before you fall to sleep. Recommended for fans of Organ music, John Denver, E.L.O, Tones on Tail, claymation, tide-pooling, old trails, bumble bees and Sasquatch. Future projects: Split 12"/CD with artist, Casino Versus Japan (3 exclusive tracks) Miy Paluk records (UK label) will feature a Freescha track on their upcoming compilation. FREESCHA

EXCLUSIVE.  Pronounced freesha. Southern California electronics. Slower Than Church Music, Freescha's second full length on their own Attacknine label, brings 10 songs from the creative pairing & friendship of the San Fernando Valley born Nick Huntington and Michael McGroarty. Darker territories are explored here than on the previous "Kids Fill the Floor"'s surf imbued pastoralisms. The moss & murk have flourished on the piano keys and drums to further bring into temporary focus, Freescha's love for the lost & obscured. Wind chimes on a space platform are the last place you remember being. Recommended for fans of Organ music, wood folk, Tones on Tail, grimbly-grumblies, the Abominable Snowman, candelabrums, and ghosts. Future projects: Split 12"/CD with artist, Casino Versus Japan (3 exclusive tracks) Miy Paluk records (UK label) will feature a Freescha track on their upcoming compilation. File under church music from distant galaxies" -Andrew Weatherall (Two Lone Swordsmen, WARP) "i swear i've listened to those freescha cd's more than any other cd's in the last 6 months. they're so great. i love them." -Moby "...misters Huntington and Mcgroarty lost the map a while ago, but they've since killed the headlights and let go of the wheel, letting the logic of the lost highway guide them, at least until daybreak." -vietnambla upc: 708527110522.

WOMEN & CHILDREN - s/t  CD (Attack 9: attcd004 : 708527110423)  $12.00

WOMEN & CHILDREN

EXCLUSIVE.  Women & Children are Kevin Lasting (California) June Serwa (Canada) Jamie Moon (California) and Olivier Robert (France) formed in October 2001. This is their debut release, a self titled album written and recorded at their flat in Paris, France. Women & Children like to play with and combine elements of folk, experimentalism, goth-rock, abstraction, acoustic meanderings, and melodic texture. At the core of many of their songs is the enchanting voice of June Serwa. Their influences are wide and varied and the result is a soft sound saturated with haunted acoustics and illuminated melodies. Together, the music they create radiates playful originality in a seamless flow. Their music has already been embraced by the likes of Chan Marshall of Cat Power and Colm O'coisoig former drummer of My Bloody Valentine, who now plays with Hope Sandoval and The Warm Inventions. W&C have already recorded a new EP, which is expected later in the year. Currently they are touring as the opening band for Cat Power's European summer 2003 tour.
